Are you getting nervous about the upcoming holidays and wish you had more support?

For the many individuals who are in recovery from disordered eating, the holiday season can be challenging in multiple ways, including family gatherings, parties, and lots of food.

Food seems to often be the focal point of the holidays, and for someone who is recovering from disordered eating, the overload of food can be overwhelming.

This group explores how intuitive eating principals can be applied to support one during the Holiday season. The main purpose of this group is to learn tools to make peace with foods, end the diet- restrict-binge cycle so that holiday season can be a source of joy and connection instead of dread, guilt and avoidance.

Some of these might be: counting calories, counting macros, eating by the clock instead of hunger cues, comparing what you eat to others, playing it safe with foods and having a hard time giving yourself 100% unconditional permission to eat all foods, punishing yourself if you eat a ‘bad’ food?

  • Are you confused on how to let go of the diet mentality and the subsequent shame-guilt spiral?

  • Are you having a hard time distinguishing between physical hunger and emotional hungers, and or having a hard time stopping at comfortably full?

  • Do you long to feel more confident in your ability to feed yourself with freedom and ease?

  • Do you wish you could trust yourself around food instead of relying on ‘willpower’ and or ‘rules?’

Intuitive Eating Online Group Support

Program Details

  • 7 week group coaching that meets once a week for 1 hour via video.
  • Group is held every Wednesday evening at 8:00pm PSTour next group begins October 23, 2019 and runs through December 11, 2019 ( we skip 11/27 due to Thanksgiving)
  • Groups are held on a HIPAA compliant video platform Zoom in Practice Better Software app. You need a computer or your smart phone to meet.
  • You will gain access to private FB group for ongoing support & community between sessions and after group has concluded at the end of the 7 weeks.
  • Groups are limited to six women to foster a safe, effective, and intimate environment.
  • Goal setting and buddy assignments in between group sessions to support ongoing processing, growth and progress.

Course Outline

Week 1

Into to Intuitive Eating: reject the diet mentality, identify sabotaging food rules, beliefs and behaviors. Learn how to connect to physical hunger and how to trust your hungers.

Week 2

Explore the principal, ‘Making Peace with Food,’ while we systematically challenge the internal food critic, aka the Food Police. We will discuss specific holiday stressors and foods to increase your confidence and eliminate guilt.

Week 3

We will learn how to FEEL your fullness, so you can feel confident in trusting your body to self-regulate. We will debunk health and weight myths. And, we’ll discuss the impact of weight stigma and the oppressive forces of diet culture on your relationship to food and body.

Week 4

Emotional Eating 101, learn how to cope with your feelings without turning to food, learn mindful eating basics to end the unconscious emotionally driven overeating cycle, learn how to unhook from non-hunger eating by using principals of satisfaction and pleasure. Decode symbolic food cravings.

Week 5

Learn how to decode the obsession with being a certain size or weight; end the cycle of blaming your body and discover areas of your life that are starving for nurturance, attention and love.

Week 6

Body image reboot. Discover daily practices to get you out of worry, hatred and self-blame. Learn how to work with body image fears in new ways to end the war with your body.

Week 7

Radical Daily Self-Care Plan. We discuss behaviors and practices to support you this Holiday season so that stress levels don’t throw you out of alignment. You will be partnered with a ‘Buddy’ in the group to support your daily practices.
